How One Simple Metaphor Changed My Life…

I discovered something intriguing last night while reading through my journal. I pinpointed the precise moment when everything fell into place for me. One metaphor in particular was so well-crafted and logical that it caused me to reroute my life.

I took some notes from the journal entry because the message was so powerful. Here are my thoughts on the connection between consciousness, goals, order and action.

  1. Your consciousness is the center of your existence.

  2. Your life experiences, perceptions and beliefs have led you to your current situation.

  3. Your consciousness is what will guide you to what you want to become, if you allow it.

  4. Your ego stands in the way of this new reality.

  5. We have a tendency to view our lives in an ego-centric, objective, data-driven and analytical terms. We use data points to compare our health, wealth and happiness to others.

  6. Once you make the shift of viewing yourself in a more subjective manner, controlled by your own opinions of yourself, by your own perception of self, you can manifest the future you desire if you take the necessary actions to support those goals.

While reading The Power of Awareness by Neville Goddard, one of his metaphors really stood out to me. Goddard uses a piece of steel as the example. When steel is not magnetized, the arrangement of molecules is chaotic. They’re strewn about in all directions arranged at random. All of the molecules in a magnetized piece of steel are in file by rank and order. The steel becomes magnetized at this point. The molecular structure of the steel remained unchanged. The magnetism wasn’t generated, it was displayed. This metaphor works so perfectly in so many ways, I read this part of his book multiple times over and over again. Here’s what I took from it.

  • Your current thoughts and goals are based upon objective notions you want to achieve.

  • We typically have over 6,000 thoughts a day. Unfortunately, those thoughts and goals are all over the place much like the molecules in unmagnetized steel. I’d also be willing to bet, that a vast majority of those thoughts are steeped in negative self speak as well.

  • Organize your goals. Organize your priorities. Bring order into the equation. An organized environment helps immensely.

  • Put everything in rank and file in your life. What do you need to accomplish to get to your end goal? Do you want to be healthier? Wealthier? Happier? There are specific ways to get to this end goal. Write out chronological steps to achieve your goals.

  • TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY

  • Re-iterate that the ego will not deter you from making moves to accomplish this goal. The moment you seek comfort and stray from your goals, you have let your ego win. If you want to change the course of your life, this is non-negotiable and you have to keep your ego in check at all times.

  • You are not undergoing a molecular change, just as the steel never changed. All you’re doing is displaying and acting upon your newly recognized level of consciousness.

Hope any of these thoughts help bring clarity and added focus to the goals you wish to achieve. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to shoot me a message on Instagram.

Thanks for reading ❤️🙏❤️
